Special issue of JVGR on "Volcanic Risk Perception"

Dear colleagues,

Christopher Dibben (University of St Andrews, UK) and myself, JC Gaillard (Université Joseph Fourier, France), are preparing a special issue of the Journal of Volcanology and Geothermal Research on "Volcanic Risk Perception". The envisioned volume shall compile articles from the Anglo-Saxon and French research communities and hopefully from other parts of the world. It shall encompass a large array of geographical contexts including Latin America, North America, Europe, the Indian Ocean, Southeast Asia and the Pacific. Hopefully, it shall serve as a reference material for future research in the field of volcanic risks. Some Australian, New Zealander, American, British and French authors have already expressed their interest for this project and commited to submit an article.

We invite more authors to submit a manuscript to this volume. Papers should deal with volcanic risk perception and closely related aspects such as the influence of the larger context on perception and the implications in terms of volcanic disaster management. The time schedule that shall be strictly adhered to is the following:

- Initial submission of manuscripts: 31 October 2006;

- Deadline for reviewers reports: 31 December 2007;

- Submission of amended manuscripts: 31 March 2007;

- Submission of the recommended set of papers to the editor-in-Chief of JVGR:

31 May 2007

- Publication: Late 2007

Of course, it will be best to receive your manuscript earlier. Each paper will be reviewed by two to three international specialists. The manuscripts should not exceed 10,000 words inclusive of reference list. You may find all the details regarding the publication at:

Уважаемые коллеги,

Кристофер Диббен (University of St Andrews, UK) и я, Дж. С. Геллар (Université Joseph Fourier, France) готовим к выпуску специальный выпуск Журнала Вулканологии и Геотермальных Исследованний на тему «Изучение вулканического риска». Предполагается, что выпуск будет содержать статьи англосаксонских и французских исследовательских сообществ, и, возможно, статьи из других мировых сообществ. Географический масштаб выпуска огромен и включает в себя Латинскую Америку, Северную Америку, Европу, Индийский океан, Юго-Восточную Азию и Тихий океан. Мы надеемся, что этот выпуск будет хорошим подспорьем для будущих исследований в области вулканического риска. Некоторые австралийские, новозеландские, американские, британские и французские авторы уже выразили свою заинтересованность в данном проекте и прислали свои статьи.

Приглашаем большее число авторов присылать свои рукописи для публикации в этом выпуске. Ваши статьи должны быть непосредственно связаны с темой оценки роли различных факторов вулканической опасности и реагирования на них.

В ходе публикации необходимо строго придерживаться следующего расписания:

- Первичная подача рукописей: 31 октября 2006 года.

- Срок для рецензий: 31 декабря 2007 года.

- Подача отредактированных рукописей: 31 марта 2007 года.

- Подача рекомендованных бумаг главному редактору JVGR: 31 мая 2007 года.

- Публикация: в конце 2007 года.

Разумеется, желательно получить ваши рукописи как можно раньше. Каждую работу проверят два-три международных специалиста. Объём текста не должен превышать 10000 слов, включая список литературы.
