Kamchatkan and Kuriles Volcanic Activity
April 23, 2025, all time is UTC
BEZYMIANNY VOLCANO (CAVW #300250)
55.97 N, 160.6 E; Elevation 2882 m (9453 ft)
Aviation Colour Code is RED
Satellite data by KVERT showed the strong explosive eruption of the Bezymianny volcano began at 23:10 UTC on 23 April. Explosions sent ash up to 11 km a.s.l., and ash plume extended for about 60 km to the east of the volcano. Ashfalls were noted at Atlasovo, and Lazo.
SHEVELUCH VOLCANO (CAVW #300270)
56.64 N, 161.32 E; Elevation 3283 m (10768 ft), the dome elevation ~2500 m (8200 ft)
Aviation Colour Code is ORANGE
A growth of the lava dome of the Young Sheveluch volcano, and activity of the 300 years of RAS (the Russian Academy of Sciences) lava dome on the southwestern slope of the Old Sheveluch volcano continues. A growth of the domes is accompanied by powerful gas-steam activity. Satellite data by KVERT showed the volcano was obscured by clouds.
KLYUCHEVSKOY VOLCANO (CAVW #300260)
56.06 N, 160.64 E; Elevation 4750 m (15580 ft)
Aviation Colour Code is YELLOW
An explosive eruption of Strombolian type of the volcano continues. Lava fontaines out on the bottom of a deep (about 200 m) volcanic crater. Satellite data by KVERT showed the volcano was obscured by clouds.
KARYMSKY VOLCANO (CAVW #300130)
54.05 N, 159.44 E; Elevation 1486 m (4874 ft)
Aviation Colour Code is YELLOW
A weak activity of the volcano continues. Satellite data by KVERT showed the volcano was obscured by clouds.
